Metal Fabrication Materials We Work With
Our metal fabrication materials span five core families, each supplied for tube stock fabrication or flat stock work, including round tube and structural profiles:
- Aluminum: 6000 and 7000 series alloys for lightweight, corrosion-resistant components
- Carbon steel: 1020 through 1050 grades for structural and general fabrication work
- Alloy steels: 4130, 4140, 8620, 52100, and similar grades for parts requiring higher strength or wear resistance
- Stainless steel: 17, 300, and 400 series for corrosion resistance and temperature performance
- Superalloys: Inconel, Hastelloy, and Waspaloy for extreme temperature and high stress applications
If your project calls for a material or grade not listed here, our engineering team can source it and confirm it against your print before production starts. Confirming the grade and specification up front, rather than after the first piece runs through the shop, keeps a fabrication order on schedule and off the rework list.
Tube Fabrication and Flat Stock Capabilities
Modern Group performs tube fabrication and flat stock fabrication in house, covering:
- Laser tube cutting, metal cutting, and bending services, for round tube, square tube, and flat stock
- Robotic welding and metal forming and welding, for structural and cosmetic joints
- Manual and automated forming, to turn a cut length into a finished assembly
- Assembly and finishing, including heat treat and powder paint, so a part can leave our facility ready for install instead of routing through a second supplier for a final step
Custom tube fabrication runs through the same quality system as our flat stock fabrication work, rather than being handed off between vendors.

Both. Our metal tube fabrication cell scales between a single prototype and a production run of thousands without changing tooling partners, so qualification testing carries over to the production part.
